About Ed Holt

When you work with Holt Tree Surveys, you work directly with Ed — the surveyor who will assess your trees, write your report, and stand behind every recommendation.

15 Years in Arboriculture

Ed Holt has spent over fifteen years working in the arboricultural industry — not just surveying trees, but climbing them, managing them, and understanding from the ground up what makes a tree safe, structurally sound, and worth preserving.

That practical background shapes the way Holt Tree Surveys operates. The reports we produce aren't just desk exercises — they're grounded in real understanding of how trees fail, what the warning signs look like, and what practical management actually involves.

Based in the New Forest on England's south coast, Ed works primarily across Hampshire and surrounding counties, but travels widely for the right projects — and has carried out survey work for clients across the UK.

A Sole Trader — by Choice

Holt Tree Surveys is deliberately a one-person practice. When you make an enquiry, Ed answers. When a survey is booked, Ed carries it out. When a report lands in your inbox, Ed wrote it and Ed stands behind it.

That direct relationship matters — particularly for clients who need clear, honest advice they can act on, rather than a corporate report produced at arm's length.

Who We Work With

Our clients range from private homeowners with a single tree of concern, to local authorities managing hundreds of street trees, to schools, campsites, shopping centres, and healthcare estates. What they share is a need for professional, independent advice they can trust — and documentation that will stand up to scrutiny.
